Early Registration before Dec 31st ($25). $30 thereafter. www.rovent.ca Snow Angels – a great service opportunityWe have requests from Senior services in New Westminster, and from the “Snow Angels Team” in Coquitlam, for senior scouts – Venturers and Rovers – to help seniors who are in their homes, with snow shovelling this winter. These are publicity opportunities to profile scouting, too! From Coquitlam: The Snow Angels pilot program is a volunteer based initiative in which individuals or community groups work to help make our sidewalks safer for those in need. Snow Angels will be equipped with shovels, and working in the Westwood Plateau and Como Lake areas, they will respond to requests made to the City by those who are unable to shovel their own sidewalks due to physical disabilities or restrictions. The program requires that volunteers live in the Westwood Plateau or Como Lake areas, and are walking distance to the homes which they will look after. If you are interested, the first step is to sign up for a “Snow Angels General Orientation”, through which you will begin the Cit of Coquitlam Volunteer Process. Let us know if this is something your group would be interested in. Contact us at snowangels@coquitlam.ca or phone 604-927-6909 From New Westminster: Please contact Lynda at lyndad@seniorsservicessociety.ca, or at (604) 520-6621. www.seniorsservicessociety.ca and look for the volunteering tab.
